SAMMYLOVE VOICE: ASUU SAYS NO TO TEST & EXAMS YET DSA CONTINUES TO CLAMOUR FOR DISSOLUTION s

SAMMYLOVE VOICE: ASUU SAYS NO TO TEST & EXAMS YET
DSA CONTINUES TO CLAMOUR FOR DISSOLUTION
Dissolution is the first assignment I met on my table upon
resuming office, these were the exact words the new DSA,
Dr. Jimoda keep saying (from anonymous sources close to
the student affairs).
There is a Dean of Student Affairs only because there are
students on campus.
The primary assignment of students on campus is academics
and obviously this should be the primary assignment of the
school student affairs.
To be sincere and laconic, there are more pressing academic
and non-academic issues on ground than dissolution, let me
mention a few:
*ASUU's resolution to halt test and exams indefinitely
*Lectures have stopped in some departments
*Nothing visible has been done on Extension of Health
Centre has promised
*Increment in tuition fee
The school Management:
*It is not bias to state emphatically that the school
management is pulling for dissolution at the expense of
students' academics.
*It is pathetic and unfortunate that the student affairs unit
which is suppose to shield and protect the students have
become porous and have been made the students' greatest
liability.
*It has been gathered from intel close to the senate building
and student affairs that an increase in tuition fee to about
150% will follow the increment in acceptance fee of freshers
from 20,000 to 30,000 naira.
*An health insurance scheme that will add 2,000 naira to the
tuition fee of all students (stalites included)
*let's save the rest for tomorrow as I have promised to be
laconic today.
The strength of the Student is the Union because united we
stand, divided we fall!
The school management is attacking the strength in our
unity "the Students' Union" to make us unfit, incapable,
incompetent, weak and vulnerable for the battle ahead
(increase in tuition fee).
The management wants to dissolve the serving executives
and honourables, pend the electioneering process and wage
war on increment of fees with the electoral body who will be
the interim head of the union.
You must agree with me that the electoral body does not
have the constitutional grounds and back-up to engage the
management.
The stand of the Students' Union Selfless Sacrificing Regime
led by Hon. Solace:
*The management should make our academic calendar
their priority, stating categorically the exact date for test and
exams.
*The senate should attend as a matter of urgency to ASUU
issues.
*Visible steps should be taken concerning the upgrade of
the school health centre.
*Most importantly, the management should release an
official publication coping the Union, notice boards and all
appropriate bodies repudiating aggressively and assertively
the "increment in tuition fee".
If these demands of the majority are not met, then I say to
the school management resoundingly "NO to Dissolution!"
