Drums were rolled out weekend at the Nigerian Navy School , Navy Town, Lagos, as the Nigerian Navy Primary School Ojo emerged overall winner of the 4th Annual – Inter School Sports competition of the NNPS in Lagos.
The inter-house sport which started with a march past, saw NNPS Ojo clinching the overall winner by 105 points.
NNPS Mobil Road, Ajegunle and NNPS Okoko came second and third respectively.
The Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Beecroft, Commodore Abraham Adaji, graced the occasion with other senior naval officers among whom were the Director of Naval Education, Commodore A. Almu; Base Education Officer, Lt.-Cdr Ibrahim; Captain Samuel Ogwu , Captain Lizzie Okoh-Iloba and Lieutenant Commander Ngozi igboezue among others
In his remarks, Adaji said the Nigerian Navy Directorate of Education placed a very high premium on extra curricula activities, owing to its importance to health.
He said “It is not just in the classroom that learning takes place. Sports is one those extra curricula activities that the school orgnises to ensure the mental, physical and ultimately the academic health of the pupils.
‘’Indeed today is not only for us but for the children. This is one of those programmes packaged to ensure total development of the children,’’ he said.
